May 4 is Star Wars Day, and fans around the world have spent the day celebrating one of the most popular film franchises of all time since at least 1979. Whenever you see a fellow fan on Star Wars day, be sure to greet them with a cheerful “May the Fourth be with you.” Here are just a few of the many other ways you can celebrate Star Wars Day this year.
Watch the movies again
May 4 is on a Sunday this year, and what better way is there to close out the weekend than with an all-day movie marathon? If you’re a serious Star Wars fan, you’ve probably watched all three original films in a single day before. There’s nothing wrong with doing that again (and again and again), but if you’d really like a challenge, you could try watching the prequels as well. If you attempt such an endeavor, make sure you know which order you’re watching them in. There are more possibilities than you may think. Whatever you choose to do, make sure you invite over some fellow Star Wars fans, or invite someone who hasn’t seen the movies and create a new fan!
Make some Star Wars-themed snacks
If you’re going to spend the day watching movies on your living room couch, you’re going to need a lot of snacks. You could just stop at the grocery store for some candy, but it’s Star Wars Day, so why not spend some time making some Star Wars-themed snacks for your movie marathon? Impress your friends with some Princess Leia or Admiral Ackbar cupcakes, or get a set of Star Wars cookie cutters for something simpler. You can add some Star Wars flair to your drinks as well with a Han Solo in Carbonite ice cube tray.
Talk like a Star Wars character
Talk like Yoda, you can. Difficult, it is not. Yoda speaks a jumbled form of what’s known in the Star Wars universe as Galactic Basic. If you’d like to try your hand at one of the other “six million forms of communication” C-3PO brags about knowing, there are numerous books and online resources to help you get started with some of the more common ones.
Dress up as your favorite Star Wars character
We know how much people love dressing up in costumes, no matter how old they are. With six (and counting!) movies, multiple spinoff TV series, and hundreds of comic books and novels set in the Star Wars universe, there are countless possibilities to choose from. No matter who your favorite character is, you’re sure to be able to find the perfect Star Wars costume. Even your dog can get in on the fun.
The number of ways to celebrate Star Wars Day is limited only by your own imagination and creativity. Whether you’re a casual fan or a die-hard fanatic, we’re confident you’ll find the way that’s perfect for you. Tell us about your own ideas, and May the Fourth be with you!
