Christmas stocking can be hung anywhere. The tradition is to hand them from the fireplace mantle but you can hang them anywhere, if you don't have a fireplace. Santa will know just where to find them and exactly what to put inside each one. Most of the time, people get goodies inside their stockings like candy, small toys and other nicknacks. Women might get perfume or jewelry, men may get a new razor or a some gift cards. Basically, if it is too small to put under the tree, it belongs in the Christmas stocking.

The story of the Christmas stockings dates back to the fourth century. St. Nicholas of Myra was known for his charity. He heard about an elderly man who could not afford a dowry for his daughters so he visited the house after the family went to bed and threw three bags of gold coins down the chimney, each one landing in the daughters' stockings that were hanging to dry by the fire. This legend of unselfish gift giving eventually evolved into our modern day Santa Claus.
There are two standard sizes for Christmas Stockings that we sell. They are 16 inches and 22 inches. The classic style features red felt, velvet or plush with white trim. You can hang them so that the toes face either left or right. Simple stockings such as these are fun to embellish with jewels and glitter (not included) so everyone can have a one-of-a-kind Christmas stocking for Santa to fill with gifts.
