When it comes to Vampires, there are as many legends as there are whispers in the night. According to many a vampire is a mythological undead being that feeds on the blood of human beings as well as animals. In many stories, vampires have special powers that enable them to fly and hypnotize their victims, and they are especially successful in getting the affection of human beings of the opposite sex. When a vampire bites a person and consumes his or her blood, that person will also become a vampire, or so the story goes.
Most people envision vampires clad in shrouds, with a pale and gaunt appearance, sleeping in coffins during the day, and hunting for blood at night. They are said to be nocturnal beings that cannot be exposed to sunlight, and can be repelled by garlic, a silver cross, prayer, and holy water. Acciording to legend there are a number of ways to kill vampires, including planting a wooden stake in their hearts, decapitating their heads, burning them, and shooting them with silver bullets.
While The stories of Vampires have grown taller than the mountains of Translyvania where Vampires are said to have their beginnings, these creatures of the dark have a long history and a rampant following even into the 21st century.
