Marvel Comics is a company that publishes comic books, and other types of related media. The company was founded in 1939 as Timely Comics, and since then has surpassed DC Comics to become the largest American comic book publishing company. Marvel Comics was acquired by the Walt Disney Company in 2009 for more than four billion dollars. There are many well known Marvel Comics characters including Spiderman, the Fantastic Four, X-Men, and many more. Along with the central characters in Marvel's comics, there are countless villains. Below is some information on some of the most famous villains from some of the most well known Marvel Comics.
Spiderman Villains

Doctor Octopus – A supervillain that is known as one of Spiderman's greatest enemies. He is obsessed with proving his genius and destroying Spiderman. Doctor Octopus is portrayed as a stocky man who has four mechanical appendages that are very powerful.

Green Goblin – A well known supervillain in the Spiderman comics, there have been many who have taken up the role of the Green Goblin but the most well known is the original, Normal Osborn. Osborn is a foe of Spiderman, and is considered one of his arch enemies. The Green Goblin is responsible for many tragedies in Spiderman's life including the death of Gwen Stacy, and the masterminding of the Clone Saga.

Hobgoblin – Considered the Green Goblin's legacy, Hobgoblin generated one of the longest running mysteries in the Spiderman comic series as his character's identity was not initially revealed.

Vulture – An elderly enemy of Spiderman, he used Vulture talons to suck the youth out of people in order to temporarily make him young. The Vulture was transformed into Man-Spider after absorbing the DNA and youth of Peter Parker.
X-Men Villains

Mystique – A supervillain known for assasinating several important people that were involved in mutant affairs. Mystique founded her own Brotherhood of Evil mutants, and she herself is a shapeshifter.

Mister Sinister – A supervillain who is obsessed with genetics and mutation. Sinister used Gambit to assemble a group of Marauders who massacred nearly a whole population. After his rebirth, Sinister sought to perfect life through manipulating DNA.

Magneto – A supervillain who is convinced that only by a show of power will humans learn to let the mutants live in peace. Magneto's goal is to create a world where mutants can live without persecution. His relationship with the X-Men is constantly is flux.
Fantastic Four Villains

Doctor Doom – A supervillain and leader of the nation Latveria, he is one of the Fantastic Four's greatest villains. Doctor Doom is a genius inventor as well as a sorcerer, and has fought numerous superheroes in his plots for revenge and power.

Devos the Devastator – A foe of the Fantastic Four, Devos is an extraterrestrial vigilante who wants to bring peace to the universe. Devos thinks that this can only be done by destroying anyone who is capable of waging war. Devos is known for betraying his allies.

Klaw – A human physicist who has been transformed into solid sound and wears a sonic emitter on his right wrist as a type of prosthetic device. Klaw is often in conflict with the Fantastic Four and is an adversary of the Black Panther

Mad Thinker – A supervillain, the Mad Thinker is a genius specializing in evil robotics. The Mad Thinker's real name and origins have never been revealed.
