The Clone Wars are a series of battles fought between the Galactic Republic and The Confederacy of Independent Systems in the Star Wars series. The Clone Wars resulted in the death of the old Galactic Republic and the formation of the Galactic Empire. To create the Clone Troopers, DNA was taken from Jango Fett and cloned into an army of soldiers who waged war in defense of the Jedi Order.
