The Christmas Party Playlist

If you’ve ever seen Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, you’re well aware that Christmas doesn’t come from a store (Maybe, perhaps it means a little bit more).

So, if Christmas still comes without ribbons and comes without tags and comes without packages, boxes and bags, then what is it about?! Clearly, the true spirit of Christmas lies within the time we spend with our families and friends, and Costume Discounters believes that memories can easily be made with a little help from some music to set the mood.

Check out our ultimate Christmas party playlist, and hear those sleigh bells jinglin’ – and ring, ting, tingalin’, too – this holiday season!

1. Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

We can’t promise that playing this song and making a cardboard cut-out of Michael Jordan will keep your town’s criminals away, but we can promise that it makes for a great, upbeat start to your Christmas party. (For more Home Alone fun, check out our minimalist posters!)

2. A Holly Jolly Christmas

It’s almost impossible to hear (Have) A Holly Jolly Christmas without envisioning Sam the Snowman, the character that Burl Ives voiced in the 1964 TV-Movie classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

3. I’ll Be Home For Christmas

It’s not always easy to create a follow-up that’s better than the original, but we think that Rascal Flatts may have accomplished just that when they recorded their rendition of I’ll Be Home for Christmas.

4. The Christmas Song

Everybody seems to have Bieber Fever these days, and we at Costume Discounters are no exception. Add R&B superstar Usher to the mix, and you’ve turned a Christmas classic into an everyday radio hit.

5. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays

*NSync’s reign atop the pop charts may have only lasted four short years, but one of the greatest gifts ever bestowed upon 90’s kids was the groups holiday album Home for Christmas. Thank you, Justin and friends!

6. Last Christmas

Last Christmas is the timeless tale of getting your heart broken during the cheeriest time of the year and using the next 365 days to turn it into a catchy tune.

7. Merry Christmas, Baby

Who’s got more soul than Otis? Nobody. He sure does treat us nice.

8. Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Between his renditions of Merry Christmas, Baby and Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, the Boss provides the holiday spirit with a dash of rock and roll.

9. It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

There are toys in every store, and the prettiest sight to see will be the holly on your own front door. We love when it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

10. Little Saint Nick

The Beach Boys might not ever see the snow, but they know that Little Saint Nick is always watching this time of year.

11. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus

Mommy sure goes to some great lengths to make sure she gets what she wants for Christmas, huh?

12. All I Want for Christmas is You

If this isn’t on your Christmas playlist, you’re doing the holidays incorrectly.

Are there any classics that you think we missed? Let us know on our Facebook Page or on Twitter!
