A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… A new generation of Star Wars products were released at Costume Discounters.
Okay, so it hasn’t been that long, and Costume Discounters definitely isn’t that far away, but Force Friday seems like it happened (light)years ago to some. That’s what happens when you spend several weeks anticipating something so exciting, like the release of toys and costumes from Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.
For those of you who haven’t copped your masks and weapons yet, here’s a quick rundown of what was seen, and, perhaps more importantly, what was learned on Force Friday:
Rey is the character that Star Wars fans have been feigning for ever since A New Hope was released in theaters in 1977. The female lead gives little girls everywhere a cosmic role model, as this resident of the desert planet Jakku has big plans to protect the galaxy from the evil First Order.
Force Friday revealed a few things about the lead male in Episode VII, Finn, but the trailer already had Star Wars fans pretty knowledgeable about the former Stormtrooper. Equipped with a brown leather jacket and a white and orange blaster, he seems like a worthy predecessor to Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, who battled the Empire 30 years prior.
Unfortunately, nothing new was learned about the Empire’s militia, the Stormtroopers on Force Friday. However, fans can safely assume they’ll be working intently for the bad guys yet again. They return in The Force Awakens with a cleaner look than they’ve had in Episodes past.

In the true fashion of the Dark Side, Kylo Ren comes to Episode VII with an intimidatingly dark ensemble. Black mask, black cape and lightsabers blazing. No, really – his three-pronged lightsaber offers an advantage unseen until this point in galactic battle. The crossguard almost guarantees he won’t suffer the same fate as the empirical leader before him, Darth Vader, who lost his hand.
While Rey is the female hero that Star Wars enthusiasts have been waiting on, Captain Phasma is her villainous counterpart. Phasma served as a Captain in the First Order, and she sports a reflective armor, similar in style to the one worn by the Stormtroopers she leads. With a black and maroon cape draped over her shoulder, Phasma already seems like a real threat to Jedi Knights everywhere.
If you prefer to stick to the classic looks of your favorite Jedi Knights, Sith Lords and Wookies, fear not – Costume Discounters proudly offers standard, deluxe and collector’s edition Star Wars costumes representing all of your favorite characters.
